General Class Information
A work-study program is available for advanced-level students who display a good work ethic, respect for fellow students and CJ staff, and who maintain a high level of commitment to the Circus Juventas's mission. All students who are interested in participating must have their schedules, registration, and work-study packets completed and turned in by the first day of the session. Work-study application packets are available at the Circus Juventas front desk. Skill Levels Skill levels are provided for most acts to establish minimum required abilities. Movement up through levels is congruent with coach recommendations, accomplishment of skills in previous acts, and space available. * Level I: Classes provide an introduction to those students with no previous experience. For some classes, an age limit will apply. * Level I-II: Classes will build on beginning fundamentals of the acts. * Level II: Classes will build on the fundamentals of the acts. * Level II-III: Classes will prepare students for advanced level training. * Level III: Classes are for advanced level students only. * Team: Invitation only. Extensive gymnastics and/or dance background. Development and accelerated training in aerial, acrobatics, dance/theatre, and juggling. Performances May ShowsThe May performances allow our beginning and intermediate students to experience the thrill and the challenge of a full-scale performance that integrates music, costuming and presentation. This experience is an integral and very special component of our programming. We strongly believe that all students benefit from it, and we are proud to offer extraordinarily high production values. Accordingly, May show preparations start many months in advance. Winter session enrollment will determine which acts a student will perform in for the May shows. Unless otherwise noted in the winter class schedule, all beginning and intermediate classes will perform in the May shows, and all students enrolled in those classes will be expected to participate. Costume measurements for the show will be taken in early December. Parents must purchase costumes per act. For some acts, accessories (e.g. fishnet stockings, shoes) may also be required. Accessories are typically billed in the Spring session. Summer Shows The Summer show is reserved for the most advanced performers in the most advanced acts. Students appearing in these shows are seasoned, well-rounded performers who train year-round. Advanced students will begin preparing for the summer performances during the winter months. Staff will review student capabilities and commitments and make performer selections by January.
